Heat Holding Characteristics of a Greenhouse
with Three Movable Curtains and Well-water Spraying Device

Summary

    In this report the auther invetigated the heat holding characteristics of a grenhouse with three movable inner curtains and well-water spraying device.
1) In maintaining room temperature of 13 -15 centigrade, an excellent overall heat transmission coefficient of 0.64 kcal/m2hr.degree was obtained.
2) The well-water spraying system showed a high resistance to heat dissipation through curtains when the ambient air temperature was low. The ratio of room temperature decrease to ambient temperature decrease was as small as 0.22 degree/degree.
3) The heat transmission coefficient at each location of the greenhouse was obtained by means of a modified heat transfer model.
4) The average error of 0.3 - 0.8 centigrade was obtained when the night temperatures calculated by the following estimation formula were compared with the measured values.

Tin = 0.13Tsk + 0.21Tou + 0.66Tso + 0.07Hw + 0.18Hi

This formula also gave the efficiency of 0.18 degree/kcal.m-2.h-1 for hot air heating of this house.
