Studies on Effective Radiation Area and Radiation Configuration Factors of a Pig(2)
- Configuration Factors of a 27 kg Pig to Rectangular Planes on the Side, Front or Rear Wall -

Masayoshi MINOWA

Summary

The radiation configuration factors of a pig are necessary for the estimation of radiation exchange rate between the pig body and surrounding objects. The configuration factors of the polyhedric surface-model pig, which was 27 kg in live weight, in a standing posture and represented by the three dimensional coordinates of many surface-mounted triangular patches, were numerically calculated by computer graphics. The law of solid-angle projection and the method of numerical integration were used.
The relative errors of calculated configuration factors were estimated to be about 1% or less by the law of summation for configuration factors and the law of propagation of errors. The graphs for determining configuration factors of a 27 kg pig to rectangular planes on the side, front or rear wall were presented as a function of the size of the plane and the distance between the plane and the pig.
